Years ago, I read “The Richest Man in Babylon.” It shares many great “Babylonian parables” about wealth. It’s a short book you could probably read in an hour or two and if you haven’t read it yet, you should.
It’s full of proven wealth creation principles but there’s one in particular that resonated with me and that I always remember. It’s on the bottom of page 56 and it says:
“Men of action are favored by the Goddess of Good Luck.”
I’m not sexist so I figure this Goddess favors women of action too. And besides it’s the Goddess of Good Luck, not the God of Good Luck but those are the exact words.
You see all the whiners of the world sit in their a$$ and bitch, moan, and complain about how “lucky” successful people are. And since they’ll never get of their butts and do something to change their situation, they’ll never realize what a bunch of baloney that is.
Luck is when preparation meets opportunity. And we are surrounded by opportunity…so much opportunity that it’s not possible to even take advantage of all the opportunity. But those who are not prepared to meet opportunity wouldn’t recognize it if it poked them in the eye so it’s not likely they’ll ever get “lucky.” They’ll just complain day after day as they watch others get “lucky” and unless they take action to prepare themselves to recognize opportunity that surrounds them, the cycle repeats itself until they die…probably broke.
Apparently it never occurs to these boneheads that they could ask successful people how they did it or go to the local public library and read books about successful people and then model the actions of these successful people to achieve the same results themselves.
Woody Allen said half of success is just showing up and he’s probably right. In a previous post (When They Were 22) I shared the story of how a carpenter named Harrison Ford got his “lucky” break and turned into a mega-successful actor. He was actually hanging out in places where actors get hired. He wasn’t sitting on the sofa in front of the idiot box dreaming about becoming an actor. He is a man of action, the type favored by the Goddess of Good Luck. And surprise, since he just showed up at a place where actors are hired, he got “lucky” and found an acting gig as an extra. A short time later he was cast as Han Solo in Star Wars and it turned out that was just the beginning. And it all started with a simple action.
So do you want to make money online? Do you have a website? How do you expect to make money online if you don’t even have a website? It won’t happen by osmosis? You can create a free blog at blogger.com or wordpress.com. And if you want to take it a step further, I created some screen capture videos of how I customized this blog to my own preferences. You can watch them and then just repeat what I did on your blog. You can be making your first post today…if you’re a person of action. Check the videos out here: CreateBlog2Day
