The idea of doing something every day that moves you towards your goals is not new but sometimes it helps to look at a real world example.
At the risk of sounding like a lardbutt, I’ll tell you that I put on almost 20 pounds over the past 18 months. Just after Christmas I tipped the scales at 202 lbs. which is more than I have ever weighed in my life and the first digit being a 2 instead of a 1 as it had been for decades was a bit disconcerting.
Before you jump to conclusions, you should also know that I did over 100,000 push-ups and hindu squats last year and I’m on pace for 60,000 more this year. So it’s not like I don’t work out but I was lax on the cardiovascular exercise. At least half of that 20 pounds was added muscle and I don’t really worry about how much I weigh. I know it’s time to get off my butt when my pants don’t fit in the waist. I refuse to buy bigger pants. That’s like giving up as far as I’m concerned. OK, now I feel better having justified putting on almost 20 pounds.
I had done some Tae Bo at a friend’s house during the summer of 2006 so I decided to invest $20 in some Billy Blanks Tae Bo DVDs. I did 20 - 30 minutes of Tae Bo every morning 6 days a week during January & February. But I would barely break a sweat and was never out of breath so I wasn’t convinced I was actually accomplishing anything but I kept doing it anyway.
And I’ll be darned. I stepped on the scale at the end of January and was down 6 pounds to 196. And the same thing happened at the end of February…dropped another 6 pounds to 190. Of course since I lost my 10+ pounds, I got complacent, slacked off, and still weigh 190 today. So I started the Tae Bo back up a few days ago. I’ll bet I’m down to 185 by the end of April. My pants are loose again and that’s all that really matters to me.
You might be thinking, “OK great, so you lost a few pounds exercising. What’s the big deal?”
Well, the same principle applies to making money online. Just like you won’t lose 20 pounds in one day, it’s not likely you’ll become an overnight success but if you do a little bit every day that moves you in the direction of your goals, the results will probably surprise you in a short period of time.
Don’t think about submitting 30 articles at once. Instead, submit one article per day. That’s a much easier goal to grasp. It shouldn’t take more than 20 - 30 minutes per day. When you accomplish it once, you’ll know you can easily repeat it the next day and the next day. And when you do it 21 days in a row, it will likely become a habit. Try it and see if you don’t see great results.
Another thing to remember is that the article submission software that improves site promotion efforts by 1875% or more you bought and don’t use is about as useful as my Tae Boe DVDs were last month. The tools don’t work by magic or osmosis. You actually have to put them to use to see tangible results.
