Are you interested in making money online for the sole purpose of getting filthy stinking rich? I’m not. It’s not all about the money. For me, it’s about waking up every morning and have the freedom of choice to do whatever I want to do that day. In other words, not having to go to a job where someone else rents my time, tells me what to do all day, and pays me a pittance to be used as the leverage that makes them rich. I opted out of corporate America almost four years ago. I couldn’t stand it and it was moving me in the opposite direction of my goals so it had to go.
Of course, the ability to wake up every morning and have the freedom of choice to do whatever you want requires money so money is a big part of it but I’m not addicted to money. I haven’t gotten filthy rich yet but I’m making steady progress and I think the journey is half the fun. It’s quite a challenge to figure out how to make money on your own. Actually, once you get off your butt and look around it’s really not so difficult to figure out how to make money online or in real estate or in many other ways. The hard part is focusing on one opportunity and executing your plan.
So once the plan is executed and you’re making enough money in your sleep that you really can do whatever you want, what’s next? Some people actually try to tell me that I would get bored quickly being filthy rich and trying to find things to do. What? Are these people nuts? I think they’re just making excuses for having jobs. Or maybe they’re small thinkers. Or maybe they just have pathetically boring lives. But that’s their business.
I’m not exactly sure what I will do when that day comes but off the top of my head I can think of lots of things to do. I could buy a house in a private golf course community and become a scratch golfer. Then I could go play the top 100 golf courses on every continent. I could travel in my own jet airplane. That alone would probably keep me busy for the rest of my life and I guarantee I would never get bored. In addition, I would meet lots of people and see lots of places which would lead to more ideas and things to do.
Instead of watching TV shows about African Safari’s and floating down the Nile and visiting the 7 Wonders of the World (which I don’t do), I could actually do all those things in person. Instead of watching the Cubs and the Hoosiers and the Volunteers on TV (which I do), I could get season tickets (maybe even a luxury box) and follow them around for a season. Think of all the people I could meet and places I could see. I could fly there in my jet airplane and play a round of golf before going to the games.
I recently read that Shania Twain spends time with her family in her homes in Switzerland, Canada, and New Zealand. I wouldn’t pick those three countries but I think she’s got the right idea. I would live where it’s summer all year round. Maybe live in North America and Europe during May through September and then live in Australia and New Zealand October through April. If Shania Twain can do it, I see no reason why I can’t do it too.
If you’ve read Think and Grow Rich, you know Napoleon Hill said “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” I just told you what my mind conceives and believes. What does your mind conceive and believe? Small thinkers get small results. It doesn’t take any more effort to be a big thinker.
