Sidetracking

I did my own sidetracking experiment a week or two ago and it worked really well so I figured I would share it with you.  I first read about sidetracking on the Internet Business Blog. If you don’t know what sidetracking is, you might want to read this post:  My Sidetracking Experiment

Here’s what I did.  I had mentioned a WordPress plugin that allows you to post RSS feeds automatically to your blog in a previous post:  Save $300

I figured some people might want to see a video showing how to install and use the plugin with affiliate datafeeds from Clickbank, Amazon, eBay, etc. so I created a 30 minute video and wrote a salesletter one day.

But instead of buying a new domain, I put the salesletter on this site and I put the product on 7DollarOffers which is a site full of products for sale using the 7DollarScript.  I’ve said before that I’m no master at driving tons of traffic to my sites.  I’m still a work in progress.  But the 7DollarOffers site already gets a ton of traffic with an Alexa rank of around 10,000.  So all I did was position myself on a site that already gets a ton of traffic figuring I could steer some of it my way.

Over the past 2 weeks according to my stats, the 7DollarOffers site has been the number 1 source of traffic to this blog by a wide margin so I was right.  I was able to steer some of the traffic my way.

My salesletter is at http://www.cybercashology.com/wprss/ if you’d like to read it.  I figured people would be curious and chop of the “/wprss/” to see what was at cybercashology.com and apparently they are judging by the results.

As I’m writing this post, it’s actually listed at #1 on the best-sellers list but don’t make assumptions about that.  All I said was putting that product on a site that gets a ton of traffic is driving a lot of traffic to this blog.  I never said I was making a killing selling that product even if it is the best-seller.  I’m only selling it for $5.50 (according to Glyphius, 7 is the lowest scoring number…check out the score of 5.50 vs the score of 7) and secondly most of the sales are made by affiliates to whom I give 100% of the $5.50 so I’m building a list but don’t expect to make much money selling a $5 product on 7DollarOffers…at least not on the front end.

But I would say that if you’re looking for a way to drive traffic to a site, this works so you might want to consider it.  I’m also raising the price on my product to $10 or more next week so this is your chance to get it for almost half price for a few days.  Go to WordPress RSS Plugin
