Lessons Learned from the G-Men

The New York Football Giants shocked the football world last night winning Super Bowl XLII in arguably the biggest upset since Broadway Joe Namath guaranteed the underdog Jets would beat the Colts and delivered. Even if you don’t like football or aren’t a Giants fan (for the record, I’m not a Giants fan), you can learn some valuable lessons here. Sports may be a waste of time to watch (although I waste a few hours every week watching) but the sporting world offers some great examples to follow and model on the road to success.

Are people constantly knocking you down and telling you how silly it is to think you can create a successful Internet business? Somebody is silly all right. It’s the idiots who try to steal your dreams. Who the heck are they to decide how successful you are capable of becoming? For two weeks, the G-Men (a nickname for the Giants) had to listen to the broken record story in the media about how they didn’t have a chance. The G-Men didn’t buy it and they proved their critics wrong and so can you.

But on the other side of the coin don’t get complacent and underestimate the capabilities of your opponent. I’m not saying the Patriots did that but it happens all the time. History is full of examples of businesses that got complacent, took their eye off the ball, and got crushed by the competition. Don’t let it happen to you.

Every day is a new opportunity to shine…or an opportunity to start sliding. You’re either moving forward or falling behind. There is no standing still. The world is moving forward with or without you so if you think you’re standing in place, you’re mistaken. You’re actually falling behind.

If you’re letting your critics impede your progress or oven letting them stop you from getting started, take a lesson from the G-Men and prove them wrong. Every day you make another excuse for not getting it done, you’re falling behind…and the further you fall behind the harder it is to catch up. If you haven’t started building an Internet business, when would now be a good time get moving. And if you’ve already gotten started, keep moving forward.

There’s no good excuse. If you don’t know where to start, join my intern program. It’s free. And when you’re done you’ll know how to create your own successful Internet business.
