Eric Clapton, John Lennon, and Swimming Pools

I did not plan to follow-up a post about a book written by Gene Simmons with another rock & roll themed post a few days later.  It just so happens that I went to the Eric Clapton concert in Phoenix Sunday night.

Someone called with a free ticket at the last minute so what the heck.  I know a lot of Eric Clapton songs.  He looks old.  Apparently that’s what years of heroin abuse will do but I’m not perfect either and it’s not my place to judge.  He still a great guitarist and still has plenty of juice left in the tank.  I even got a little chill when he broke into “Layla,” but that’s not the point.

As I was sitting in the audience waiting for the show to start I pulled out my ticket stub…$65.  It was an average seat…not in the front row but not in the nosebleed section.  I figured the crowd was 10,000, maybe more who knows.  But 10,000 x $65 = $650,000.   Not bad for a few hours playing the guitar.

Of course my mind immediately shifted the numbers a few decimal places.  Hmmm…if I could attract a crowd of 600 people at $1,500 each….that’s $900,000.  I’ve attended several events with similar numbers so that’s hardly unrealistic.

It reminded me of a quote by John Lennon, the ex-Beatle, about “writing a swimming pool.”  What he meant was that if he wanted a swimming pool (or anything else) all he had to do was write a song and he could buy a swimming pool.  He could basically create money out of thin air.

Mammal brains sit around and whine about how they can’t do what Eric Clapton does and John Lennon did because they’re not rock stars.  Nonsense.  Limiting beliefs.  You don’t have to be a rock star to create money out of thin air.  If you don’t believe it, open your eyes and  notice what’s happening all around you.

You can do it with your own information products on the Internet.  Go to clickbank.com or paydotcom.com and look at all the information products and software being sold.  Normal people make money online everyday.  Some of them are making fortunes.

And if they’re building lists and asking people what they want.  Then all they have to do when they want a “swimming pool” is give people what they want.  Two things they want are rock & roll and information.  That hasn’t changed for decades.
